Lois Butler

Lois Butler '52

Major: Economics

Favorite Course: Helen Lockwood's 8 a.m. Press Course, but of course I was enamored by Mabel Newcomer

Career: I worked in fair housing for over 20 years, specifically integration. Our programs (initiated in Shaker Heights, Ohio) were created to overcome practices by banks and realtors who were steering people away from newly integrated areas. We started locally in the 60s and moved on to national affiliations.

"I established an annuity with Vassar as an elegant way to remember my college … The deduction is sizable and the interest very good. For me it was a —no brainer.'"
